
Dubai International Airport is the primary airport serving Dubai, United Arab Emirates and is the world's busiest airport by international passenger traffic. It spreads over an area of 2,900 hectares of land. The airport is operated by the Dubai Airports Company and is the home base of Dubai's international airlines, Emirates and flydubai.
The airport consists of three terminals and has a total capacity of 75 million passengers annually. Terminal 3 is the second largest building in the world by floor space and the largest airport terminal in the world.


The airport has two fully equipped runways which are capable of guiding any aeroplane even in harsh climatic conditions. Recently, the runways had to be reconstructed in order to accommodate the largest aeroplane of all - Airbus A380. The Department of Civil Aviation spent $120 million in upgrading both of its terminals and airport infrastructure.

- In 2014, the airport handled 70.5 million passengers, 2.37 million tonnes of cargo and registered 357,339 aircraft movements.
- Dubai International is an important contributor to the Dubai economy, employing approximately 90,000 people.
- As of August 2009, Dubai Duty Free was the biggest single airport retail operation in the world.
