Bombardier 415
The Bombardier 415 is a Canadian Amphibious aircraft purpose-built as a water bomber. It is an aircraft designed and built specifically for aerial firefighting. It is also known as the 'Superscooter'.
Now this is one of the rarest aeroplane I have ever come across. Only 76 of these models were built out of which 7 are now discarded due to accidents. So presently there are just 69 of these models functional in the world.
This aeroplane seems to be ordinary but it has a very unique feature. It is an 'amphibious plane' ; ie.It can land in water. The other reason this aeroplane is unique is because it is used by the military mainly for search and rescue operations.
The 415 can scoop up to 6,140 litres of water from a nearby water source, mix it with a chemical foam if desired, and drop it on a fire without having to return to base to refill its tanks. The 415 was specifically developed to provide the capability to deliver massive quantities of suppressant in quick response to fires. The aircraft is built for reliability and longevity, with use of corrosion-resistant materials.
